Cranbrook College

Snowfields Academy Cranbrook is our new Snowfields college, opened in September 2022. While part of the Snowfields family, we have a number of unique features to support our students’ learning.

The Cranbrook college has a trainee wellbeing dog, named Otis. Otis is required to pass his assessments before he is ready to support our pupils, but once he has, he will be around to make sure everyone is as happy as can be!

We are one of only a few schools in the UK to have a working farm on site. Nick, our farmer, has made the school farm one of the highest-performing in the country, winning many awards. Although a working farm, many subjects use the farm and its animals for lessons. We use this brilliant and unique resource to support students across the curriculum, from Science and Geography to English and Art.

Our working farm also provides a unique opportunity for all pupils to develop both agricultural and life skills. The hands-on learning approach means young farmers are actively involved in the day-to-day running of the farm and gain an understanding of commercial livestock.

Wellbeing Dog

Otis is a rescue dog, and had a tough start to life as a street dog in North Macedonia. He was rescued by a charity and rehomed by Jack, Otis’ primary dog handler. He loves his walks and playtime, but because of his tough start to life can be quite shy at first. But after a good sniff, he will be more confident around you – just give him time.

In addition, the Cranbrook college features a large and spacious library. We have recently invested in almost 1,000 new books, new comfortable furniture and new bookshelves. The library has wonderful views of our green surroundings, and provides a quiet and calming space for reading. Our library system allows us access to the books at our sister college at Bearsted, so there is always a wide variety to choose from.

We hope you will join us on our journey at Snowfields Academy Cranbrook.
