Please note that as a new Academy, Snowfields is not yet listed. It is one of Kent’s C&I (Communication and Interaction) specialist provisions alongside Grange Park, Broomhill Bank and Laleham Gap and as such has similar admissions criteria.
Students at Snowfields Academy must have an Education Health and Care Plan with ASD as the Primary Need. Students must be working at, or close to, age expected attainment levels, within 2 years of age expected and capable of achieving GCSEs at the end of Year 11.
Students with a primary need of SEMH, diagnosis of PDA/ODD or Global delay are not appropriate for Snowfields Academy.
Students at Snowfields Academy must have an Education Health and Care Plan with ASD as their Primary Need. Students should be working at, or close to, age expected attainment levels, within 2-3 years of age expected and on a pathway to achieving GCSE or Functional Skills qualifications at the end of Year 11.
We cannot meet the needs of students with a primary need of SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) or physically challenging behaviour.
The admission of pupils with EHCPs to special schools is a decision for the local authority (LA) who has statutory responsibility for arranging their provision. There are admissions criteria for each special school in order to determine if a particular school would be a suitable placement to meet the needs of the individual student.
If your son or daughter is currently in Year 5, or Year 6 and you wish to choose Snowfields Academy as their secondary school transfer, you will need to advise the LA, usually via the Annual Review process.
