Bearsted College

Snowfields Academy Bearsted opened in September 2020 as a brand new purpose-built special secondary school accommodating 140 students.

Wellbeing Dog

We also have a wellbeing dog, named Willow. She joined us in September 2021 and is a very important member of the team. Willow is a Labradoodle – the perfect mix of the easy going Labrador temperament with the intelligence and loyal traits of a Poodle.

Students having a difficult day may spend time with Willow to support their emotional regulation whilst others earn Willow time for demonstrating the Snowfields values during the school day. Students may wish to read to Willow if they find reading a challenge and she goes into some lessons when difficult topics are covered. Willow gets lots of cuddles and treats and even some fan mail.

Infinity Cafe

At the Bearsted college, we benefit from our onsite Infinity Cafe, where students have the opportunity to interact and serve members of the public in a variety of roles, extending their experience of real working environments. Young people with Autism are hugely misrepresented in the employment sphere, and through working at the Cafe students are provided with meaningful opportunities to experience, inhabit and enhance the world of work.
