Careers Events

We recently held careers week at Snowfields which focused learning in all subjects around relevant and subject specific careers or industries of employment.

On Wednesday 8th March students had the opportunity to attend a virtual careers event hosted by Unifrog which included key speakers for apprenticeships, traineeships and further education as well as the opportunity to engage with employers from a range of sectors.

Below is the information and related activities from Snowfields Academy’s Careers Week (6th – 10th March 2023).

In order to be successful in any job you will need to work hard.

What sort of benefits does working hard bring?

  • Working hard will often lead to the chance of a promotion. This is where you gain additional responsibilities and duties and as a result get an increase in your salary.
  • Most jobs have the ability to progress up through the company or industry.

However this doesn’t always mean that you will stay in the same place of work (location) if you get a promotion. It also could mean your job role would change too.

Here is an example of different positions/promotions in the retail industry.

Cashier / Shop Floor Stockist / Customer Services

Cash / Team Supervisor

Assistant Manager

Store Manager

Each step up in the company brings more responsibility and increase in salary.

Take this opportunity to ask your Tutors and TAs what other jobs they have had.

Share with the group what jobs your families have.
