Snowfields Academy has taken the decision to close its onsite farm at the end of October 2025. This follows the planned retirement of Mr Cooper, our Farm Manager, who has led the farm provision since its inception.
Mr Cooper has been a valued and much-loved member of staff, and his contribution to the Academy community over many years has been exceptional. As part of his retirement, he will be arranging for the safe and responsible rehoming of all animals currently based at the site.
Following a review of curriculum priorities and resource use, the decision has been made not to continue the farm provision once Mr Cooper retires. The budget currently allocated to the farm will instead be redirected towards activities that offer a broad benefit to students across the Academy, with a focus on improving access, engagement, and impact for a wide range of learners.
We recognise the farm has been a meaningful part of the Snowfields offer for some students and families. Our staff will work directly with those most affected to provide ongoing support and alternative pathways for learning and engagement.
This change forms part of our wider work to continually adapt and strengthen the Academy’s provision in line with the needs of our current and future students.
