I am a retired Branch Manager of Waitrose, having worked for the company for 45 years. I was in this specific role for 30 years, responsible for the welfare of 250 Partners and 25,000 customers every week. I worked to ensure the business was profitable and that our interactions with the community were supportive and improved the surrounding area. I held this post for 15 shops over the years having worked with more than 5,000 individuals on a one to one basis during that time. I was also the elected representative for all Waitrose Managers for 5 years, working directly with the Waitrose Management Board, helping guide policies.

I now work alongside my wife in her household support business with a clientele exclusively in Bearsted. I have lived in the area for more than 20 years and am an active member of the community as well as admin of the Community Hub page for the village and surrounding areas. I am a family man, having 5 of my own children and 6 grandchildren and have a passion for seeing children develop to maximise their personal attributes for a sustainable happy adult life.

David Ratcliffe
Parent Governor

I am a qualified food technologist working for Brakes, a food service business based in Ashford, Kent, where I am Head of Merchandising responsible for sales, procurement, marketing and new product development.

I have previous experience of being a parent governor at my son’s primary school where I had governance responsibility for SEN and elements of Health & Safety linked to building works & improvements.

I am delighted to become a parent governor at Bearsted Primary and Snowfields Academy, as I am passionate about the right educational provision being available for ASD children, both locally & nationally, providing high levels of mental health & well-being understanding, awareness & support, ensuring the setting can help the children achieve their full potential. There are enough challenges for our children in life, which makes being in the right educational setting so important to help them on their way.
